He basically said you’re smart and passionate but you’re wrong. Everything you said about what happened today was wrong, you misrepresented my views and I did not perpetuate rape culture at all. We can talk about this at our appointment later if you want.
Arrrrggghhhhh. So frustrating. Dude, you said that sometimes men don’t know they’re raping women. That’s not perpetuating rape culture? You expressed shock and disbelief when no one wanted to defend a guy’s right to hit a girl if she turned down sex. That’s not perpetuating rape culture? You made snarky comments about how painful the male erection is and how frustrating and “understandably upset” a guy can be, so why is it wrong to lash out? I get it was all hypothetical and made for us to think, but you never followed up with “guys, this is wrong, just think about what I’m saying, don’t do it.”
I even said in the email that I don’t think this actually reflects your views, it just came off wrong to the class, and you said “your email does not accurately represent my views.” So does that mean you do endorse hitting women? Even if it’s not what you think, that’s what it came off as and that’s the point. Did you actually read anything I wrote?
You responded 20 minutes later, wrote 4 sentences total, 2 of which defended your racial preference argument (so not the point), saying I’m wrong and completely dismissed everything I said without explaining why.
I get it, I was on offense and you’re playing defense. Why not take more than a few minutes to think about it without going with your gut reaction? I get you’re a busy guy but you don’t have to respond back so quickly, you can take your time. I mean, did you even read the Shakesville article?
Class is going to be oh so much fun on Wednesday.
